- PRESS RELEASE -

Although electric vehicles are ubiquitous, today it is a tough challenge for many charging station providers - such as gas stations and public parking lots - to get an accurate view of the exact cost of energy for a charge and thus correct pricing. Specialist in energy accounting, Odot, however, now offers the solution: thanks to the combination of real-time insights into energy prices and the smallest details of energy contracts, the purchase cost per charge can be precisely calculated.

Chris Elbers, CEO Odot:"This way we can increase the profitability for the providers and make the pricing more correct. So I am proud that we can once again add a relevant service to our offer, to which several major players have already subscribed."

Scale-up Odot helps charging station providers calculate exact cost of charging.

Determining the exact purchase cost of energy for a charge is no easy task. Often, operators of public parking lots or large apartment complexes do not have sufficient insight into the details of their energy contract or do not know how to calculate the cost of a charge. Which makes it a solid challenge to create an informed business plan for the charging points they offer and to do the right pricing to their customers.

This complaint from many companies prompted specialist in energy accounting Odot - which today already guides 1,700 Belgian and Dutch companies in their energy costs and consumption - to develop a solution for this. With its energy management platform, Odot holds all the cards to respond to these challenges.

Odot CEO Chris Elbers says,"We do this by negotiating detailed customized energy contracts on the one hand and, on the other, by mapping consumption in real time. We have all the elements in place to make costs transparent."

The combination of both elements makes it possible to calculate in detail the exact cost of a charge. Something that can count on a lot of enthusiasm from a number of major players.

"At our client Q-Park, for example, we managed to save just over 38,000 euros in 12 months.", said Chris Elbers.

Philip De Brabander, CEO at Q-Park: "We want to offer our customers advanced parking solutions. That obviously also means charging solutions for electric vehicles based on green electricity. We turned to Odot to better assess the purchase costs of these. This allows us to continue the expansion of our charging solutions based on a much more detailed business case."

Odot's continuous and detailed monitoring also allows charging solution providers to make adjustments as needed.

Chris Elbers:"Our data allow companies to adjust their approach when necessary. For example, you could give charging events more or less power based on the margin that might be more limited at certain times, or you could control the price based on the purchase cost at certain times."
