For true driving pleasure, BMW Herentals is the place to be. A one-stop shop for sales, after-sales, maintenance and repairs, tires and bodywork. For his energy needs, concessionaire Filip Sneyers takes that same integrated approach.

BMW Sneyers has been a customer of Odot for gas, electricity and solar panels since 2018. The cooperation started with a quote for energy and was quickly extended to the 724 solar panels (over 1100 m2) on the roof of the company building. Currently, BMW Herentals has a second concrete plan on the table to also equip a nearby roof with and 300 or so solar panels.

The BMW concession in Herentals has a total of 24,000 m2 of site, of which an 8,500 m2 is floor space. That includes a modern showroom and offices, a workshop, a car wash and a body shop. The biggest energy consumers are the heating and cooling systems of the building and the automotive infrastructure such as the spray booths, the 23 (!) lifting bridges and the car wash. Electricity still plays an important role for Filip Sneyers. "The revolution to electric and hybrid cars is the future. We are further developing our charging points for this purpose. Ideally, we charge the batteries with the harvest from our solar panels. Utilizing the energy we produce ourselves, and if we have a surplus, having it put back on the grid through the injection contract with Odot so that it can be sold to whoever needs it, that completes the circle nicely."

"BMW as a company is strongly committed to further greening, for example through climate-neutral sites. All aspects in the chain are important here, from water use in production, to energy consumption at the concessionaires. I am asking to further green my energy, and this is a question that does not fall on deaf ears at Odot," Filip says.
